Columbia Senior Residences at Mechanicsville

I have a family member there. The maintenance staff seem to take their time fixing things. The front door is not working properly or safely in case of an emergency. You have to wave several times towards the door sensor, and it may or may not open. For a senior building, it's been like that for months now. Hopefully, there will be no emergencies where someone needs help getting in or out that can't raise their arms towards the ceiling. It needs to be fixed properly.

if you care about your loved ones, do not move them into Columbia Senior Heritage. My 76-year-old mother’s unit was flooded on April 18, 2025, and for over two months, management failed to address the water damage properly. Instead of removing the soaked materials or remediating mold, they instructed workers to paint over it. We had to pay for professional mold testing ourselves, which confirmed extremely high levels of toxic mold, including Stachybotrys (black mold), in her apartment and even in the hallway. Despite showing them certified lab results, Columbia has done nothing to protect her health or compensate for the damage to her belongings. This facility is unsafe, unresponsive, and negligent — avoid it at all costs.
