Do Not Rent Here I have lived in this apartment complex for over 20 years. They don’t care about their tenants and only care to collect rent. My fridge has been broken for days now and nobody seems to care. The emergency number is stupid to have if nobody will answer or respond. All of my food has gone bad and lord knows they won’t pay for the groceries lost due to their lack of urgency and maintenance. I have submitted a request I have sent an email and have gone in person and respectfully they are useless. The people that “work” there say they only lease the apartments to people and don’t work directly with anyone. Honestly I am really shocked by all the most recent reviews at Colonial Village Apartment. I just did a tour yesterday in this apartment and coming here seeing a 3, 4 months reviews and a year review? This is scary and disappointing. How can individuals go work and work their backs off to come back to a leaking house, can’t wash dishes, bad AC, washer and dryer bad for 3 months no fixing? This can’t be called home if management can’t do anything about it. Are our kids safe in this apartment?! I was about to send my application but I mean the reviews has negativity but when it has so much of recent reviews that’s disturbing and bad for business and dangerous to families and kids. I heard someone said the parents spent $200,000 for maintenance? Because the house management didn’t do anything

The worst office you can deal with is the West Des Moines office. They rent apartments to people without providing a dedicated parking spot for each unit. Most of the time, the parking areas are full, and you end up having to park on the street, with the risk of having your own car towed by the office. They also have some of the most unprofessional and unpleasant staff you could ever encounter, and their behavior is consistently rude and frustrating.

Do not rent here. The price is alluring but you will be constantly disappointed and aggravated with both the facilities and management. We moved here from out of state and the unit they showed us seemed old but fine. However, when we arrived, the unit they had prepared was in active pest infestation, reeked of animal urine, and overall dirty. We should have ended the lease there but we had no where to put our things from the cross country move. The next unit luckily had no bugs but we were trapped with no working plumbing or A/C, grime everywhere, and a lingering smell. It took 3 weeks for maintenance to respond to our requests in the middle of an Iowa summer so we could have basic amenities. We had to threaten an inspection for them to take action. Absolutely DO NOT rent here! We moved into our apartment in the middle of the summer and our A/C was broken for the first week and a half, leaving our apartment in the 80’s and 90’s. The pool was closed the entirety of the summer for whatever reason, we didn’t get to use it once. A couple weeks before move-out, we called the front office every single day to ask about the move out process, but no one answered our calls or voicemails. The front office was locked this entire time. We decided to just move out and leave our keys in the apartment after MANY unanswered calls with the company asking what to do with them. Turns out we needed to give them a written letter stating that we were moving out a month before our lease ended (even though our lease only went until our move out date…). We end
