Avoid making contracts with Chicago Title. I signed a contract in May 2023 and paid a deposit for a new construction. Over the entire year, there was a severe lack of communication, with no updates on the status of our house. After numerous missed deadlines, I could no longer wait because our lease was expiring and we were at risk of becoming homeless. I requested a refund of my deposit in May 2024, but Maria from Chicago Title informed me that they couldn’t return it because the builder had used it to order building materials. They also used weather as an excuse of building delays when Tulare County experienced very little rain this last year. A WHOLE YEAR PASSED AND HOME WAS NOT READY. I was waiting on a refund and have not received anything but a rude secretary answering the phone who said she was busy and I should call someone else. The First Lady I spoke with said she would send out the check but didn’t all I received was a letter of cancellation. She stated that the check was on the way but it’s been 2 weeks now. No one seems to know what’s going on with my refund. Avoid going through this company.
