Camino Real Apartments

While I was looking for apartments in Santa Fe, I spoke with the leasing woman Krystal at Camimo. She was very professional and made the hunt easy. She gave me a virtual tour and made my experience genuine. Although I'm not moving right now I highly recommend looking here first as the customer service is the best I've had in a long time. Thanks Krystal you rock!

Well where to start....I took a job at LANL and moving across the country was already hard enough but Krystal made the entire process so easy from giving me a virtual tour to walking me through the application when I was having trouble. When I arrived after 3 days of traveling, my dog and I were met with treats and very friendly and professional staff. I had a few items in the apartment that needed repair and the maintenance person Martha had it fixed the same day. My experience thus far has been exceptional.

The management at this apartment complex is a complete nightmare. Tina and Heather were the only competent staff who actually cared about residents, and letting them go was the worst decision imaginable. Since their departure, maintenance requests take forever, communication is non-existent, and it feels like the current team has zero clue how to run a property. Living here used to be manageable—now it’s frustrating, disorganized, and poorly managed. Whoever decided to let Tina and Heather leave clearly doesn’t understand what good management looks like. I can’t wait till my lease is up so I can leave. I have lived here for so long I can’t take the mis management any more.

Overall, I had a positive experience at Camino Real. The leasing and maintenance team were always on top of any issues we had. (And that is truly so hard to come by now!) the manager, Tina, was always super responsive and she gave us great advice when it came time we had to move out. We also got lucky with an incredible sunset view.

AMC, the management of this apartment complex, has failed to return my security deposit without valid justification and did not provide an itemized statement within the required 30 days after I vacated in May 2025. Communication has been inconsistent, and a refund check that was promised was never delivered. I left my unit in spotless condition. The simple statutory obligation that AMC neglected will now cost them thousands of dollars. I look forward to litigating this matter and will be pursuing a formal legal complaint. Recommendation: Employees of Los Alamos National Laboratory and other prospective tenants should exercise caution and strongly consider alternative housing options.
