Bellerive Apartments

The apartments are decent but constantly needs repairs and takes several days for maintenance to address. Packages are consistently stolen from the lobby. The leasing agents also engaged in predatory tactics by trying to keep my deposit and overcharge on normal wear and tear expenses related to move-out. Management is impossible to get ahold of when help is needed. Fellow tenants also do not respect the community and often leave messes around common areas.

TL;DR I lived here for five years and the longer I stayed, the poorer the experience became. There were both positives and negatives with my living experience, but without a substantive change in management practices for the building and improved security, I wouldn't rent here again. I moved in before COVID hit and found the building to be clean and as quiet as it could be, given it's 50 yards from the 405. Because management had an onsite presence during business hours, Bellerive was a very well-run multi-family rental building. Essex, the massive REIT owning numerous multi-family rental buildings on the West coast, pulled onsite management soon after COVID hit, and the living experience at Bellerive declined immediately. Do not be deceived by the well-maintained interiors and prompt communication during tours. My experience reveals a starkly different reality. Just five days before my scheduled move-in date, I was abruptly informed that the current tenant had decided to stay. This last-minute notification was not only unprofessional but also caused significant disruption and financial loss due to the extensive arrangements I had already made for my move. Adding insult to injury, Bellerive Apartments offered me an identical unit just a few doors down but at a higher price. This bait-and-switch tactic is unacceptable and reeks of opportunism. When I chose to cancel my application due to this appalling conduct, I noticed the original unit was quickly put back online at the initial price. This inconsistency
