Barton House

Do NOT live here or at any Akelius property. We were living here over 5 months when we reported we smelt mold in the apartment. They took forever to schedule someone to come in and the contractor found a leaky pipe in our ceiling where someone placed a drip pan underneath to catch water. It had to be there prior to when we moved it. We were exposed to black mold for 5 months due to their negligence. We have been in temporary housing for over 3 weeks and they keep making us move to different buildings. We've moved FOUR TIMES. One of the moves, I was homeless for 2 hours cause the room wasn't ready for check-in. We've had to clean and disinfect every single surface and wash everything we own. Had a wonderful experience when I needed to get my bathroom sink fixed with Antonio Mendoza and James Hussey! They’re always so friendly and efficient and fantastic every time I need something to be fixed in my apartment.

Super pissing off. 5 times the AI agent badgered me about confirming my appointment and when we went there the concierge said he didn’t have anyone to tour us. Also no where in the zillion emails it’s mentioned that the bot emailing us is actually a bot !!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Barton House. What truly sets this place apart and makes it feel like home are the amazing staff members. James and Michael in maintenance are absolutely spectacular. They go above and beyond to ensure everything runs smoothly and are always ready to assist with a smile. While there are some trade-offs for the affordable price, such as no in-unit laundry and limited control over AC and heat, the exceptional care provided by the maintenance team and concierge compensates for it, as does the ideal and metro-accessible location.

I lived at Barton House for over a decade under the prior management company and I enjoyed every minute of living there. I only moved out when I bought a house and moved out of the DC area. Fast forward 7 years later, I am in the process of moving back to the DC area and decided to rent so naturally my first thought was Barton House. The only problem is no one will return your calls or emails! I have been trying for over six months to reach the leasing manager. I have emailed her directly, submitted multiple contact requests via the Akelius’ Properties website for Barton House, and have spoken to the Barton House front desk staff on numerous occasions where they have taken my contact information. I must have tried over 10 times in 6 months and have just given up. I completely understand if
