Backus Properties

I've had a wonderful experience with Backus Properties. I rented from other property management companies who are very busy and inattentive. I did not experience this with Backus. They are quick, responsive, and on top of their stuff. Celeste was kind, professional, and really made the whole experience smooth and straight forward. Moving can be stressful, but it helps working with people who genuinely like what they do and care about their job/business.

STAY AWAY FROM 176 MAR VISTA DRIVE PROPERTY!!! Terrible communication throughout the move-in/move-out process. The management company faked an emergency call during my move-out inspection and didn't coordinate with me to finish the inspection after receiving the keys. They coordinated invoices for services including $1280 for just "painting" and $800 for "cleaning" regardless of issues annotated on my check-in form. The alleged service companies don't exist on google search and their invoices provide no details on where the total amount came from. The move-in inspection form is limited to a single line per room so that that they can take advantage of minimal descriptions.

Michelle Backus is an exceptional property manager. Not only is they very accommodating and quick, but they also efficiently answer emails and text messages, even on weekends. Michelle is always professional and reliable.

I'm writing this review on behalf of my niece she will be so upset if she finds out I wrote this but I cannot help but be so disappointed in This property management company the lack of empathy they have shown, long story short I showed up to my nieces home because she has been dealing with personal issues I wont get into detail, I came into Salinas from out of town to show her support I brought my Companion (dog) because I know she loves animals and before her move to Salinas she had just lost her pet "honey" with that said apparently because my Dog was on her property without permission from the realtor they fined her $500 she's a single mother doing her best and called me crying, instead of informing her that this cant happen again they just up and fined her $500, now she is back to b

We have had nothing but positive experience with Backus Properties. It is great to live in a rental that is well cared for and the property manager ( Molly) always responds right away and takes care of any issues. Yes you do need to go through a bit to get the rental and they do make sure you are caring for the property, but that is why the rental house is so much better than others who only care about the money. If I ever need a property manager Molly will be it! I highly recommend them
