Auben Realty - Columbia

We have a rental home managed by Auben Realty and they have done a good job. Our tenant was not paying and they were beginning eviction proceedings, but then were able to get the tenant to pay all back rent and continue making regular payments ever since then.

Auben bought out the company that was managing my rental. It's been a 6 month nightmare, They owe me money and have not distributed funds sitting in my account, have not collected all the rent due, and good luck getting someone on the phone to help you. Avoid them like the plague!

Please take time to research this company before signing anything. Have an attorney review the contract that is completely biased against you as a tenant. Poor communication but has improved recently. Terrible move out charges. Terrible lease terms. 3yr lease with 3 month fee for early termination and you have to maintain utilities and property maintenance for them. Sub par appliances being installed as replacement. $2,400 a month and you get a replacement hotel size fridge without ice or anything for a 4 bedroom house. Charged 200$ for carpet cleaning of 1 room with carpet after providing an invoice for having it professionally cleaned by a local professional within the community. By far the worst rental experience in 20 years of renting.

My building recently sold from Auben Realty. I contacted them about rent I paid upfront and was told that this would be resolved on December 4th. Instead the day after Christmas (December 26) the new owners contact me about the rent I paid 6 months in advance. When contacted again after, stated they would follow up, and never did. My maintenance requests were cancelled and when contacted about this Auben Realty never replied. Unprofessional.

Reasons you should rent from Auben: 1. You like poor communication - unless, of course, they have the opportunity to charge you another fee, then they will communicate quickly. 2. You like waiting months and months for critical maintenance issues to be addressed. 3. You like waiting more months for the same issue to be managed or fixed. 4. You like it when maintenance people promise to show up but never do. And when they do they come slightly high. Note that all the 5 star reviews are from property owners. All the 1 star reviews are from tenants.
