Aire Apartments

I lived in this building for three months. The staff was great, and the location was fantastic. However, there were serious security issues: someone tried to steal my neighbor’s car, and one night, about 50 cars, including mine, were broken into. The package room was also broken into, and all packages were stolen. After speaking with neighbors, I learned that these car break-ins were happening on a monthly basis. The garage was not secure—someone could easily climb through a balcony and get into the garage. Management did nothing about it. When I moved out, I was charged for cleaning fees, but when I moved in, the floors were already dirty. It felt like they charged without providing real service. To be honest, I didn’t feel secure living in this building.

Berkshire Properties really needs to do a better job at not inconveniencing their tenants. It’s 2025, and there should be a more efficient way to verify that fire alarms are working. Instead, tenants are forced to sit through alarms blaring for 30 minutes until someone finally knocks on the door to confirm functionality. At this point, I’m not even sure the volume of these alarms is within legal code. According to the **2022 California Fire Code, Title 24, Part 9**, the maximum sound level (ambient + alarm) shouldn’t exceed **110 dBA at the closest point to the appliance**. The volume in my unit is so intense that my ears literally vibrate when I’m within 15 feet of the alarm. I’m honestly tempted to buy a dBA meter just to check it myself. I've been living in a studio apartment for about 6 months at Aire now. I'm a bachelor in my mid-late 20s working in tech and enjoying the outdoors. It's the cheapest studio I found when searching North San Jose and the greater Santa Clara area. The unique design offers a divider between the resting and lounge/relaxation area, which compartmentalizes the unit making it feel less overwhelming. Thus far, it's been a wholesome positive living experience. I live on the 2nd floor, steps away from the garbage/recycling chute (which is a separate room on its own), from my parking location (via stairs) and the amenities - lounge, pool, gym, which are all of utmost quality.
