Academy Heights Apartments

Lived there 9 years, it was usually quiet, there's lots of shopping and dining in walking distance, and if you're a walker & runner like me there's lots of trails nearby. I had problems with ants, particularly in the kitchen. The apartment was dated but everything worked, it was remodeled after i moved and the rent jumped way up of course. The management responded to maintenance issues right away and kept the property up for the most part.not long before I moved my car was broken into twice in the parking lot and almost stolen, so there are security issues. There were a lot more homeless roaming around the complex when I moved out vs when moved in, but that's albuq for you. My boyfriend and I lived there for almost 2 years, started out in a 1 bedroom (which we loved) and then upgraded to a 2 bedroom. That’s where the issues started. Bathroom vanity cabinet was already coming off the wall when we got in there, always had issues with the water heater, broken patio door, backed up sink for like a week. Misty and Donna were really nice, always liked them and so did my boyfriend they aren’t the problem it’s the apartments themselves. I feel bad for them actually, have all these issues to deal with and it’s not their fault the apartments are poorly maintained/put together. Maintenance would come right away when needed, but never really fix the issues, maybe hire someone more qualified or skilled to fix the problems. They were really nice tho, the maintenance men, j

Absolute worst and shadiest leasing office. Front desk refused to show where on the lease it says they’ll tow you for expired registration. RUDE RUDE STAFF. The appts are full of mold.

If you're considering not renting here because of the one star reviews, I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that the people who left those reviews are the folks who trashed their place and expected the apartment staff to clean up after them for free once they were gone (like 12 year olds). Donna and Misty were always completely upfront with us about everything pertaining to our apartment and were always very gracious in helping us with any requests we had. It sounds a bit unbelievable but every maintenance request I put in was solved within 48 hours. This is also a fantastic place if you have pets. The complex is situated very conveniently for shopping -- you can walk to almost every store you would ever need. The apartments -- I saw a one-bedroom, and it was WONDERFUL. Roomy, light through the windows. But there are steps and stairs and doors all over the place. It's like an obstacle course. Add: I have had problems with management (their communication and attitude) from Day One -- and I'm only on the waiting list. I can pretty much correctly assume that neither communication or attitude will get better after I move in. I've taken myself off the waiting list.
