7100 South Shore Apartment Homes

I have lived in this building for the last three years. This building is an older one and occasionally has issues, but the area is pretty safe and public transportation is easily available.I have experienced a few issues with the apartment, (a water leak in the kitchen and paint buckling in the bedroom), but I can definitely share that the property managers Donada and Chris have been amazing. They have always resolved issues quickly and made living here a great experience. I can't rave enough about the management staff. Thank you for everything all do.

I would give this apartment a 2.5 star rating. I wanted to be fair, so I gave pros and cons about the apartment based on my experiences. Pros - near the lake - Near Hyde park - Easy to get downtown - Bus stops close - Potentially good view - Friendly staff - Donada replies quickly to emails - Dog friendly - Divvy bikes super close by - Cute apartment Cons - Basically a food desert, but just built a grocery store near by so that's progress. - Old building so it has old building issues. - Water pressure in my apartment was terrible, takes at least an hour to fill tub. (Asked to have this fixed never happened) - Some shady activity. ex. Someone peed and left feces in the stairwell (these were two different occasions.) - A lot of Spiders. Top issues while staying at 7100 S. South Shore Apt. Homes: * Mice (inside walls and unit): only a hand full of units out of hundreds were being treated. * Temp: 80-90 degrees inside units and halls even if you had an a/c unit (all year around) * Hallway carpets were ***NEVER*** shampooed or deep cleaned and only vacuumed once every one to two weeks in my total stay of 1.5 years. * No Trash Chute!!!!!!!!: Trash and waste spills from tenant units - elevators - common areas leading outside to the disposal can which was not close to the side entrance. * Pet urine in elevators and common areas. The property management team was very responsive and professional but it wasn't enough for me to renew my lease. Moving sucks but I definitely couldn't stay!!!

When i visited someone who lives there. The entrance facing north does not open. The door on east side of building is never pulled together. People get high on drugs in hallway & back door is broken, there are broken windows in the unit i visited, are burned & scratched floors, cabinets & lights above stove, vent was not cleaned. For the amount of money a person pays they should not have 2 live in a place like this. The most important; there is 1 way in & 1 way out, no back staircase 2 get out of ur apt. if there is an apartment fire. I believe all people should live in a nice place regardless of how their actions are. It is obvious there are issues with the management company. If needed raise ur rents and begin 2 fix things & set up bi-monthly inspections until ur renters can do better. I

I love this building and the staff! Danada is beyond helpful and always so warm and welcoming. I only had one issue I had to reach out to maintenance for and they resolved the issue within 24 hours. I lived here two years ago and only moved because I relocated for work. Now I’m back in Chicago and I just paid a move in fee and will be moving back in soon!! I recommend taking a look at this property if you are in the market for a new apartment home!!
