This review is long overdue. I was fortunate enough to tour a home being shown by Barbara Geiman from this company. She showed me the house and was very knowledgeable, but most important she took the time to listen and really get a feel for the needs of me and my family. In the end she recommended we look at another property, one not managed by her company, that she thought would suit our needs and our price range better. The property she recommended was perfect and we’ve been living here nearly three months now. We are very grateful to Barbara for looking out for us even when it didn’t help her bottom line at all.

I never received a detailed documentation of how they used my security deposit. Several attempts to ask them for it have fallen short. $1200 of that deposit of $1600 was a pet deposit and there was no pet damages and I was informed by my initial lease that they were refundable. They even made me put a deposit on a new dog, even though the old dog was dead. They were slow to fix some water damage in the kitchen and left us with exposed insulation for weeks on the end. The place was trashed when we moved in we diligently painted (our choice) removed mold, cleaned and stained a deck and never asked for a reimbursement. I was a tenant for 4 years. Initially, Barbara handled the property management and she was FANTASTIC! She was responsive, professional, easy to work with and very helpful. However, once she left and Connie took over it was a disaster! Connie is rude, extremely unprofessional and makes a lot of threats. When I was moving out, they wanted to show my unit. I shared my concerns with in person showings due to the COVID pandemic. Connie threatened that she would take me to court to try to hold me responsible if the unit wasn’t able to be rented immediately. She didn’t offer alternate options. When I moved out, I had my carpets professionally cleaned and provided the receipt. When I received the check for the security deposit return, she charged me a carpet cleaning. This was the ONLY ch

Barbara with property management was very responsive anytime we reached out to her. She even went out of her way to bring us a check when an automatic payment has incorrectly come out of our account at the end of our lease, on the same day we contacted her. After moving, we forgot to change our address when we ordered from Amazon. We contacted her and she responded right away. She contacted the new tenants and even drove out that same day so we could get our packages. I have rented from quite a few companies, and none of them have been as quickly to respond as Barbara. She is wonderful!

As a tenant, we’ve found Connie to be very responsive to our needs. She sent us a video of the interior so we could see the house before we signed the lease. That was very helpful since we were moving from out of state. After moving in, we had a few minor maintenance issues and a couple of major ones. She and her maintenance team have been very responsive in every case. In my experience, 1st Dominion Property Management is a very reliable business and I would be happy to work with them again as a tenant or owner.
